WINDSHIELD REPAIR RESINS

Windshield Repair Resin for Stone Breaks
Windshield repair resins that are used for the repair of stone breaks are
low viscosity because the cracks within a stone break are minuet and must be
completely filled all the way to the tip of each leg (crack).
20cps- is the thinnest and is used for star-breaks and star-
bursts.
40cps - is also used for: stars when there is a sufficient
bullseye or the glass is warm; combination breaks, bees- wings, the
radiating crack and ;bullseyes.
60cps - is for round shaped breaks which is a bullseye or
combination break when the glass is hot.

| Primer, Point and Stone Break Resins These
two resins have multiple uses. They were made to be primers for the
long crack resin but since they are low viscosity they can also be used
in stone breaks. They are also the point resins for cracks.
These resins have the highest lab tests of any stone damage resin on the market.
The 90 is used in the point of the crack on a warm or hot windshield. Use of
Primers in a long crack is patent protected.

Edge Crack Resins These are structural adhesives that are needed to hold
the stress at the edge of the windshield and not pull off of the PVB like
low viscosity acrylics do. These are mechanical and stay in place upon
curing. The stress from the
installation is called induced stress. It is this stress that
caused the fracture to crack and split open the crack and cause a gap.
Because of the gap and stress a structural adhesive MUST be used in this
area of an edge crack. The stress is 1,000 - 3,000 psi. Use of structural
adhesives in a long crack is patent protected. Click

LONG CRACK REPAIR RESINS Long Crack Windshield Repair Resins were
brought to the industry by Ultra Bond founder
Richard
Campfield in 1990. These medium and thick resins were not used
prior to this which is why they were able to be patented. These resins
were first field tests for years and then passed the same federal tests
required of a new windshield. This is also the only known resin to hold up
in a rollover crash and not break lose, hence the name Ultra Bond. For lab
and field tests on these resins go to

NEW
Hybrid Windshield Repair patent pending
Hybrid windshield repair is the newest chemistry for the windshield
repair industry. Once you have used these adhesives a few times you will
be hooked by the ease of use, appearance and cleanliness. The idea of the Hybrids is
to use the advantages offered by epoxy and eliminate the undesirable
characteristics of the current anaerobic UV resin such as: shrinkage,
long and incomplete cure problems, film tabs, scrapping pits, air
inhibition, runners, toxicity and odor. The
Hybrids are easier, faster, cleaner and completely cures itself after
being exposed to UV for just a few seconds and the range of UV is
250-365 nm so black lights, sun light or UV lights will completely cure
these hybrids. Acrylics pull back and off of the PVB upon curing which
is why stone breaks MUST be cured under pressure to create a mechanical
bond to the PVB. The Hybrids have a bond to the PVB which also makes the
repair less visible. Epoxy expands during polymerization and can consume small voids whereas the acrylates shrink
and cause runners along the laminate in a crack if the viscosity is too
low. We have extracted the best properties of two chemistries to make
Hybrid Windshield Repair.

Hybrid Chip Repair is for the windshield repair of stone
breaks. Acrylic resins bond to glass but not the PVB. Acrylics pull
back and off of the PVB upon curing, which is why you cure stone
breaks under pressure. This creates a mechanical bond to the PVB.
Acrylics are more visible after repair and down the road because of
this fact. This hybrid bonds to the laminate/PVB and does not shrink so
the repair is less visible and you do not have to totally
cure it before you remove the tool, which means less cure
time, no more ring around the pit and no unpleasant odor. For small
impact points and drill holes you can use the resin to fill the pit after
you remove the tool. Leave the UV light on and after
a few seconds, level while in the gel state with a fresh or dedicated razor blade
for a clear pit that requires no polishing.. Use for bullseyes and
combination breaks. Viscosity is 60-70 cps. Recommended for
bullseyes and combination breaks. Can repair stars with the aid of a
Star Flexor. |

Clear Pit is a 4-in-1 product. It is a (1) pit
filler, (2) pit polish (3) film tabs in a bottle and (4) Edge Crack
adhesive.
Viscosity is 4,000cps. The Crack and Edge Crack Epoxy are the same
formula at 450cps and 1600 cps and can also be used as a pit
filler. (1)
As a Pit Filler: You place a drop into the pit, level and cure
simultaneously. No mylar film tab, no scrapping, no
polishing. We call it “Clear Pit” because without the scrapping your
pit is as clear as it will ever be.
(2) As a Pit Polish – The new Clear Pit can also replace your
pit polish. After you have cured and scrapped your pit with the old
pit filler instead of pit polish to make it clear place a drop of
Clear Pit on the pit, level with a razor blade and cure at the same
time. You have a
clearer pit than you get with pit polish and no mess.
(3) In place of Film Tabs/Mylar In a Bottle: -
If you dislike film tabs with cracks, you will be happy to know that
you can now eliminate them with this new chemical formulation that
takes the place of the mylar. Mylar tabs remove the air from the resin so
it can cure, but it adds time, work and mess. You can now just place
a bead of “Clear Pit” on top of the crack, cure it and slice it off. |

Hybrid Crack Repair is the first chemical that we have
used the word disappear with. It
is an anaerobic hybrid
epoxy for the
windshield repair of long cracks. This windshield crack repair resin will make floater
cracks virtually disappear including the head-on angle as well as clean edge cracks. Almost all
edge crack 12-14 inches and less are clean. With the hybrid technology
there is no pulling back and off of the PVB but a bond to the PVB.
There is also no shrinkage so you do not have to cure the point under
pressure, which saves time and uses less tools. Cap surface of crack with
Clear Pit before curing or use mylar film with this hybrid.
For ease of repair order the Hybrid Edge Resin with this resin which
is this resin's partner for the Multi-Viscosity Method . |
 |
Crack Repair Epoxy is for the windshield repair of
floater cracks of any length and edge cracks up to 12 inches. Edge
cracks over 12 inches or those that have a wide gap at the edge we
recommend the Edge Crack Epoxy or Clear Pit for the edge area for an
easier repair. This epoxy does not require film tabs. For this
hybrid process mix one drop of Epoxy Primer to five drops of epoxy
into the injector and stir or prime with Xtra Bond, then
inject the crack and cure it. NO film tabs needed for
curing. Can also be used as a pit filler and/or pit polish. It
is also a 4-in-1 product like the Clear Pit. Crack Repair Epoxy is 450cps.
Recommended for crack repair in dry climates only.

Edge Crack Epoxy is for an
edge crack when there is a wide gap at the edge area.
Generally, edge
cracks under 12 inches will not have a wide gap at the edge,
however,
edge cracks over 14 inches will. We
recommend injector sliding the edge area starting at the edge and
going in until it stops flowing. Then slide your tool at the point
to where the edge crack epoxy stopped. NO film tabs needed for
curing. Can also be used as a pit filler. It is also a 4-in-1 product
like the Clear Pit. Fill the pit, cure and
level at the same time for a clear pit that needs no
scrapping or polishing. Viscosity is 1600 cps. |

This Hybrid is the partner to the Hybrid Crack Repair resin
for using the patented Multi-Viscosity Method on an edge crack. This
resin is 2,000 cps. This Hybrid is injected starting at the edge in toward
the point until it stops. Then slide your tool at the point with the Hybrid
Crack resin in to where you stopped with the edge resin. Called "meet in the
middle". |
